You can always count on FIDO for football talk during Bball season! I always lurk these days just don't have as much to say for now....

Fball started this past sunday Feb. 20. Maybe you saw it already, but its new to me .... Change from the past several years in starting practice now. I think it will be better for the guys. It will be interesting to see how it works out for the team.

I did hear there will be no spring game. Though we won't miss much because its never very entertaining and they are often short on players at certain positions, this year it is QB with Smith leaving and Sitko still not full strength. I am excited to hear how Machen and the other early JC and frosh guys start out. Hope we can build on our Ds strides last year and find ourselves on offense. Spring ball is a time for fundamentals and building the system and players.

Coach Martin gave a couple reasons: Let the players concentrate on studies the second half of the semester after spring break. And go straight into summer conditioning/workouts from whatever sort of spring workouts they do after break. It may have been the way he did it at ECU so just something different ... new coach, new programs. And with the fieldhouse, why not?

From what I heard there will be no spring game, but I still hope there is ...

I'm always optimistic about football in spring ball. But this year, more than ever:

1. We have a coach who looks at February as "spring." How much more optimism do ya want? :D

2. Can't wait to see what Restkis and Wauford will do with an experienced D. Three of four linemen back, including HH All American Parrish.

3. Want to see Machen and the offense just out of curiosity. Part of me thinks Martin is keeping him under wraps for a reason. The other part just want to get a look.

P.S. I was infomred that the fall schedule was completed two weeks ago. Have no idea what it is; but perhaps it will be out soon.

After BG was moved to the East, they were able to finish the MAC schedule. I am curious about the OOC schedule because we kept hearing conflicting info. Temple and Minnesota replacing SEMSU and MSU, etc.

The Michigan State game is on. The Spartans are already selling their tickets. The Temple game would be for Navy if anything though I never read more than the schools were talking about it.
