Akron is the biggest surprise in the MAC. They have won some big games. Dambrot must be a better coach than I had thought. It will be won or lost on the defensive end. If Akron scores over 70, we loose. We will score between 62 and 68. DO THE D!!

This game is HUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!
I like our momentum going into this game, and I have a feeling the guys are going to rise to the challenge and smack the Zippers upside the head.

One of AKron's key players is hurt (J Wood); but that has not stopped them, looks like they have the depth
without him.
I hope Haynes shows up for this one; the play of the guards wil make the difference in this game.
A win over Akron might get us over the hump going down the Feb., stretch.
Please Flashes .......................TWO HALFS of Basketball!!!

Keys to the Flashes:
Inside: Warz and Cutley. Nate won't get more than 10-12 minutes. ( I think he'll make them worthwhile).
Outside: Either Gates, Youngblood or Edwin has to have their shot going. More than one is fine with me.
Defense: Haynes has to be a pest.
I, too am going to go out on a limb and call it for the Flashes. They looked a little hungry Sunday...first time in a while I've seen that. But I respect Akron and it's no giimme.

HUUUUGE Game! Looks like a sellout at the JAR and its on TV. Let's hope the Flashes play 40 minutes of basketball. They will need to turn up the man-to-man D on these guys. They have a freshman who is contributing a lot. This is probably the first "big" game for the Zips in a while. With a win, I think that they will control second place in the East after OU fell last night. Let's see if the Zippies can handle the pressure!
Go Flashes!!!!!

Yes, Akron is a big game but the pressure is on the Zips. I think it's safe to say that this is the biggest game for the Zips in recent memory. You cannot lose a home game this year and expect to win the East or get a bye.
We match up quite well with this team but if Nate and Warz can get it going down low we could open it up a little. This Zip defense is very good so our patience will be tested.
I will be in attendence with mostly Zips fans. We are going to get a few cold beverages before the game at Rockne's on W. Market and Merriman.
I see a defensive battle. Kent 68 Akron 65

Akron is a good team but, so are we. We need this win and will keep us playing strong with the ending of the season soon. I'm expecting DeAndre to step it up for us and make some big time plays.

It's been a pretty good week so far....
Win over NUI Sunday
Signing Jarvis and Laing to the Selection Committee Monday
ESPN announcing a national TV game featuring the Flashes and SIU on Tuesday
Now if the guys can fill in the blank on Wednesday

I am getting very nervous about this game as well....Man its going to be tough to win this conference. We can only really afford one more loss and it cant be to Miami, so to win first place here is what we have to do.... sweep Akron, beat BG, Beat Central, beat Miamiand Buffalo would be the only game that we could possibly afford to lose because of their record and we already beat them once.Miami has to lose some gmes too and I believe they will. They are a very well coached team, but I dont think they are as good as their rpi or record states. Its a team you just cant play sloppy agaisnt, they are not going to run you out of the gym, but they dont make mistakes and they make you pay for yours.
Anyways
GO FLASHES!!!!

You forgot the decimation of our wrestling team by getting beaten by a D2 school Ashland. Joe Begala is rolling over in his grave. KSU could be and should be a national power in wrestling. This bothers me tremendously and I blame the AD and his coaching selections. He had to work pretty hard to take this program down.

I agree with JC in Pluto article when he says Akron is coming. Enjoy this W now as they will be absolutely loaded the next 2 years. They'll have everyone back except for McFadden. Throw in a healthy Wood and Nick Dials (transfer from OSU) who can really shot. 2 awesome inside players (travis & Wood) with 3 great shooters (walther, dials, joyce). I hate to say it but they could be unbelievably good. I hope we can keep pace.

We agree, KSU315. Akron's got all the tools to be us in the next few years.Of course, we can't let THAT happen.
