He guys i have been out of the country for awhile and following the flashes, but man has it been painful lately.

I think that if we finish 7-3 especially with consecutive wins in the last week of play we should be in good shape going into the tourney.

This team is obviously still finding itself. i think (hope) that JC is letting them do the soul searching on their own this year instead of running them into the ground like he has in the past. hopefully they willrealize their potential
Nate is a huge key if he can get 100% by tourney time that would be great, but perhaps next year will be our year.

Whats the deal with youngblood????? I am extremeyl disappointed with his production. Does he not get it? Well Hope everyone on the board has been well and GO Flashes this sat, its a big one!!!!!!

I actually am pleased with Youngblood as of late. It takes awhile to adjust to the intensity of DI ball and lately he has been driving to the bucket nicely. He reminds me of a jr version of demetric shaw. Clearly not to that intensity and leadership level yet but i like the strides he is making.

Please, there is no one, I mean no one on this team, who can cary D. Shaw's jock strap. He had a heart that would not allow him to be beaten. He is the one man that I want in my fox hole during a real war. D. Shaw would be taking our current players to another level or he would shame them by his leadership performance. Do not disrepect the man.

GFlash -

Your right about D. Shaw, he was the soul of that team; its rare to find and after a Kent win over Miami some years back,
Miami's Charlie Coles asked after the game, "where can I get a player like Demetric Shaw?"

I think Scott Cutley has some of that spirit in him, but he needs to take it to another level to come close to what Shaw provided.
This team has the talent, but does lack leadership........and especially that gutsy attitude D Shaw provided.

Lots of road games left................some players need to step up.

As always GFlash saves the day with his true wisdom of Kent St. Sports. You are so right GFlash!!!!

My remark about Youngblood stems from the fact that there are all these other teams that get JUCO transfers and they step in and lead the team because they have already played 2 years of college bball, whether it is D1 or not.
He came with hype, I was expecting more from him. Hope that he continues to improve, but this is when his athletic ability should be able to separate him from the average athletes in the rest of the MAC. right?

Oh well, maybe D Shaw's spirit will be envoked by this team before the year is over, I really want to do some traveling in March!!!!!!!

Go Flashes!

I am just glad that most here remember the very special players and team that we enjoyed during that run. They absolutely made it difficult for me to enjoy anything less than total effort and smart play. When I see our team struggle to hit 50% of our foul shots, it makes me wonder what is going on. I have never seen a good team that had players that could not step up to the foul line and ice a game by making most of their foul shots. It really is unacceptable. If we hit 75% of our foul shots, we are about 14 and 2. The heart of this team has not yet been found. 03-banghead

There is some sign of hope in the RC column below.

[quote]Nothing like a little leadership Senior Edwin among group of Golden Flashes determined to turn season around - and make run at NCAA Tournament
Allen Moff

By David Carducci

Record-Courier staff writer

The clock started ticking on Jason Edwin’s Kent State basketball career early in his senior season.

At least, Edwin was convinced he heard time start ticking away after the Golden Flashes’ ugly two-game, mid-January road trip to Western Michigan and Ohio University.

“We lost those two games, and all of a sudden I remembered something one of my old coaches once told me,

Yes, our season lies in front of us, not behind us. Let's hope they draw on the history of the program and the lessons learned in that difficult 2 game road stretch two weeks ago to step it up in these remaining games--starting tomorrow! We need two road wins very badly.

In case you didn't see it on the main board, there is a projection that would have Arkansas-Little Rock at KSU for the BRacketBuster on ESPN FullCourt. If we win the next 4 games, that may get changed to ESPN or the duece. Opponent just speculation. I'd like to see Vermont if I had my choice.
