Notice the Flashes got a local recruit from Akron. Anyone know about his prospects?

Quote:Buchtel senior strong safety Curtis Eaton has orally committed to play college football at Kent State.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Eaton has 42 tackles, one fumble recovery for a touchdown and four sacks this season.

``This is a great deal for Curtis,'' Buchtel coach Claude Brown said. ``Curtis goes there every summer for the Upward Bound Program. He feels really comfortable at Kent and is used to the surroundings there.''

Eaton is also a standout in track as a member of the Griffins' 4x400 relay team that placed second in the Division II state championships last spring.

Buchtel plays an outstanding schedule every year. He's used to playing big games. Eaton has good size at 6-1. We also know he can run.

Thanks for the insight, KStud. The Plain Dealer also mentions that Eaton chose KSU over Miami of Ohio. That's rare.

Quote:In helping the Griffins to a 5-1 record this season, Eaton has made 29 tackles, including six behind the line of scrimmage. He also has recorded three quarterback sacks. Buchtel coach Claude Brown said Eaton, who was recruited as a possible collegiate safety, chose KSU over Miami and several similar programs.

This kid has bad grades and will probably be a Prop 48. Buchtel is a joke of a school academically.

He seems comfortable with the KSU atmosphere, so that's fine with me. We've had athletes like that before, if that's true..

It's encouraging that Curtis took part in KSU's Upward Bound program. Gary Padak and his staff do an outstanding job with UB participants. His coach stated Curtis participates "every year" in the short paragraph..if that means Mr. Eaton has participated in the Classic Program, the Math and Science Program and P.R.E.P. Academy, he's well prepared academically and socially for any college and would know Kent State very well. In the last three years, 100% of seniors who completed KSU's UB program were accepted into four year colleges, 65% at KSU.

Sounds like he has the measurements and speed to excel in the MAC. Buchtel has produced some great football talent over the years too. Welcome! Now go study!!!!!
