Who will replace Edwin and Cutley, two of the most consistent players on a talent-thin roster?

Can Nate Gerwig stay healthy and finally deliver on the promise he showed as a freshman?

Can DeAndre Haynes shake off a somewhat mediocre junior year and go out with a bang?

Can Jay Youngblood become a big time scorer, or will he be inconsistent like last season?

Can Armon Gates regain the 3 point shooting touch that completely eluded him during the second half of the season? If not, who other than Warzynski can hit the 3 on this team?

Is Isaac Knight the real deal or the second coming of Clif Brown?

Can the newcomers contribute, or will the seniors be worn out as the season progresses?

Uh, I don't know who you are but the questions you came up with are exactly the ones I have for this team this year! 03-wink

For question 1.) Hopefully Warzynski playing PF instead of C will help. However, that all depends if Gerwig is healthy.

2.) All the reports (ok one that hoop factor guy) said that Gerwig was in shape and 100% healthy. One can only hope.

3.) Yes, he will realize that this is his last chance in college. Haynes will be all-Mac.

4.) Youngblood played better in the second half of the season. Hopefully he will be consistent.

5.) I think Gates will have a good year. If not, McKee will be the starting 2 guard. Reports are he is pretty good from 3 pt land.

6.) Good question. I think Cliff will be outstanding this year, for the Purple Eagles.

7.) Last year, I thought Scott, Crenshaw, and Johnson would play a lot of minutes. Scott had 10 rebounds in the 3rd game of the year. Did he get sucked up in a black hole? Parks, McKee, Mincy. I havent' seem them play yet so I can't help you there.

I agree with most posters on this board. The bottom line is if Gerwig is 100% and Haynes can rebound, Kent will win another 20 games this year.

Probably because it seemed like the entire athletics department staff was in Annapolis ( or Baltimore) for the Navy game.

Your ignorance of what we are talking about is embarrassing for you.
A bad year for us would be a peak year for Akron.
Don't embarrass yourself further by trying to crack on our basketball program. We own you. And there is nothing you can say that won't be yammering about foolishness.

That peak year was last year. :chair:
Many of the questions have already been answered to the best of our ability this year. But I will add: I think Sullinger could be the big surprise. MAC teams get a lot of mileage out of undersized forwards. He at least has the bloodlines.

I think Youngblood could be the 18-20 point consistent scorer KSU was lacking last year. The first year at a new level is rough for everyone. In the second half, he started to take the ball to the basket instead of settling for jumpers. He was fantastic against Western Kentucky. Plus, one area the MAC is lacking is at the 2 or 3 position. This league has point guards and power forwards.

Who will replace Edwin and Cutley, two of the most consistent players on a talent-thin roster?

easy answer: mike mckee & isaac knight.. also, i disagree w/your comment: roster is not talent thin. we are deep at all positions:

gerwig center (parks back-up)
warz power forward (sullinger back-up)
youngblood forward (knight back-up)
gates shootong guard (mckee back-up)
haynes point guard (jordan mincy back-up)

(where does mike scott fit-in?)

Can Nate Gerwig stay healthy and finally deliver on the promise he showed as a freshman?

answer: YES!! in a big way!!

Can DeAndre Haynes shake off a somewhat mediocre junior year and go out with a bang?

answer: we can only hope so! since this is his final shot (senior year) i tend to think he will get his act together & play at a higher level..

Can Jay Youngblood become a big time scorer, or will he be inconsistent like last season?

answer: he will be one of many scoring threats on the team.. see him chipping-in 10-14pts per game..

Can Armon Gates regain the 3 point shooting touch that completely eluded him during the second half of the season? If not, who other than Warzynski can hit the 3 on this team?

answer: i hope so! if not, i see mike mckee stepping-up & filling this role. don't forget warz!! (he can nail the 3 too!!)

Is Isaac Knight the real deal or the second coming of Clif Brown?

answer: don't know.. time will tell. we really need him to step-up into that scott cutley role. we re really need him to perform at a high level.

Can the newcomers contribute, or will the seniors be worn out as the season progresses?

answer: i hope so! i see mckee performing at a high level from the get-go. i also see sullinger performing well. parks is the wildcard. at 6'10 he fits the bill for back-up center.. only time will tell if he has the talent & determination...

Postscript: man, i'm really looking forward to this season!! go flashes!!

Cutley played with a lot of outward passion. Facts are, though, he played 28 min a game, avg about 8 ppg and 5 rpg. That is not a lot of production for those minutes. He had great moments and some long stretches that were very mediocre. He was OK, gave us some fun moments, but will be replaced rather easily. He's probably in a situation now that will suit him better and the competition will not be quite as strong inside as it is in the MAC.

These guys may be talented but we have little to no proven depth. It will be a fun year watching this team develop. Maybe near the end of the regular season we will be ready to drill the "Zips" and OU. Time will tell.

I question whether McKee is ready physically to stand up to the MAC meatgrinder. He may need a year or two in the proverbial weight room.

Anyone know what the deal is with Jason France? As I recall, he only played in one game, yet he's apparently back, though I don't know for sure because (amazingly) they still haven't updated the roster for 2005-06. If France is just a garbage time player, why didn't he play more? Even Darius Davis played in more games.
