I'll admit that I went a little cold on Martin after being hot for him when he was first appointed. I just heard him and I do like him. He has a conviction and determination that is admirable. He sounds like he really likes Kent State. He has faith in his players. He sounds like he knows how to coach. We have to cut him some slack. Go Coach!!

I don't think you have been the only one who has been a little too harsh, GFlash68. Frankly, I am not critical of a coach unless he is so obviously bad. I realize coaching is not easy and there are so many variables that determine ones success. Another reason I choose not to criticize is because I am not privy to all the things that go on in the program and the athletic department.
Like you GFlash68, I am with him.
Go Flashes!!!

You and I don't always agree, GF. That's what make forums like this entertaining. If everyone had the same view, we could just designate a poster of the day and leave it at that.
I admire your open mindedness. You were also willing to reconsider the discipline issue when presented with new information. Too many people just stay in their corner. Plus, you love the Flashes. And that's good in my book.
I am one of the people to whom NGF refers. After being so optimistic over the summer ( frankly, because of Martin), I was shocked after the Miami game. It was obvious. However, Saturday was a glimpse that some fundamentals are in place: 1)Martin has a vision for this program. Maybe we don't like it, but he has one. 2) The players will show up for him, and 3) the offense showed vast improvement and the defense was not as bad as the score would indicate. Net, progress. And I'm all for progress with this program.
