I sent an e-mail to Director of Basketball Operations Eric Haut complaining about the lack of a roster update, and lo and behold a few hours later the roster is now updated.
I assume this is just a coincidence.
I note that supposed Fresno State transfer Chris Berry is not on the roster, although Quaintance is. Hmmm.
Jason France and Hegenderfer are long gone.
New player is Trent Morgan, transfer from Division II Le Moyne in Syracuse where he started as a freshman and averaged 13.6 ppg.

That's the understatement of the year, KSUDan !!! You have to be a friggin' detective to find out what's going on in Kent sports.
Hell, the major move of signing asst. coach Josh Oppenheimer was never even announced in the media. I found out about it by checking a KSU Internet Directory !!

It is strange that J.O. didn't get more press. I read a few sentences in the RC stating he was expected to join, was a former teammate of J.C.'s at Rhode Island, and that was it. He is quite a catch for KSU.
Other than the need for a bit more bulk, and wishing Parks was a a little closer, it's not a bad looking roster.

I concur. Most of the news media in northeast Ohio has little interest in Kent State sports, concentrating on the same old, tired mass coverage of the Browns, the Tribe, the Cavs and Ohio State (especially OSU football), and Kent doesn't help itself by putting out so little information. A few years ago, Kent put out that basketball pre-season prospectus, but they seem to have given up on that. I recall several years ago, I called Coach Jim McDonald's radio program, and was inquiring as to the status/eligibilty of then player Wade Renner. McDonald was actually EVASIVE! He didn't want to say whether the player was eligible! It was hilarous. I wish I had a tape of it!!

Q is not eligible. He's on the roster as he counts as a seat and takes up a ride. He can practice with the team, which should help. But this year is an investment for a longer term pay off.

Considering media day is this week and the media guides were likely just printed, that was probably why the roster was just updated. Kent State has always been secretive about information that it really does not have to be. But cut the Sports Information Dept. a little slack. This is probably the worst two weeks with winter sports starting and all of the fall sports starting MAC tournaments. The women's prospectus was up, and I looked at it yesterday. I am sure a men's prospectus will be up shortly.
