There's an article in today's Cincy Enquirer about Bob Huggins that said he wants to get back into coaching. The writer then went on about rumors concerning jobs at KSU and OU. I was blown away to say the least because Huggins would have us back in the Sweet 16 in no time. I'd love to see Kent do so well this year that coach Christian gets plucked away by another school forcing us to hire Huggins.
There's been plenty of controversy surronding him in Cincy, but he had really turned himself around before UC's new Nazi President decided to show him whose boss. He's given up the sauce and has been graduating his players. All he needs is a new venue.....like the MAC Center!!!!!!

Didn't he just have a DUI this past season?
He might be a good coach, but i don't want the headaches that would go along with him..

This is on the new board as well, and I am glad I am not the lone wolf on this as Flashes Win Again obviously likes Huggins.
I do not think Christian is leaving any time soon. I don't think he was that close to taking another job, and he will not be forced out any time soon. However, I find the reaction to Huggins a bit ironic. What so many on here have posted about football is we need a proven name with a track record of success and a person that will give the program a tougher edge in respect to the media and recruits.
Huggins is exactly that. Aside from his DUI 15 months ago, his program has been very clean by all accounts for the past several years. In NE Ohio, we get a slanted view of Huggins. Go to SW Ohio, and people love him. Would he be a good choice? I do not know. But if he was available at the time would it hurt too investigate?
For those that would be up in arms about the DUI, had Pees left earlier in 2003 and had Martin not been labeled as a slam dunk replacement, would have Mike Price been worth a call with his perceived baggage?

It certainly would be a change of scenery for Huggy Bear to be at the MAC center. That might get him back to the JAR, where he hasn't bean in 16 years.
Maybe someone can check this, but I believe that Huggins was winless in Portage County as the Zips' coach. Might not have been more than 2 or 3 games, but I don't think he ever beat Kent at Memorial Gym (or whatever it used to be called). If those stories about all of the players waiting to follow him somewhere are true, he'd win some games there.
Can't really see JC heading anywhere this offseason .. for my money, I'd bet Wright St. or Cleveland St. would bite on this first.

Don't kid yourself...if Kent does really well this year and Christian is offered the head coaching job at a high major program, he's gone. Christian is an ambitious man, and he knows that 2006-07 could be a down year at Kent with four seniors departing. It would make no sense for him to stick around and watch his "market value" decline.
Either Josh Oppenheimer or Rob Senderoff will be the next Kent head coach.
Huggins is not interested in Kent and Kent is not interested in Huggins.

If JC goes, we can buld on our classy tradition or ruin all good will towards our athletic department with a program full of futre dropouts and offcourt embrassments. It would be fun to see Huggins drowning pitchers at the Loft tough. I hope the next prez has the class, commen sense, and figrative balls that Zimpher has.
