Thurman Sutton 6'4" Los Angeles Harbor

Super athletic wing who can finish with the best of them. Big time slasher who makes things happen. Handle and jumpshot need work but definitely a top tier athlete. Had many highlight reel dunks during the tournament.

This type of player scares me to be honest. His team is poor, he scores a ton. I hope his mindset is come to Kent, be a part of a winner and do whatever it takes to help the team. But if he has been the "man" and scored a ton is he thinking i go dominate at a mid-major and go play in the pros.?? Youngblood has been a success story but more times than not the jr college players will not have a huge impact (i.e Darius Davis, Blake Johnson, etc..)

- his ability/desire to play defense
- his demeanor towards teammates and coaching
- his strength/stamina
- does his jumper have good form
- how is he scoring. in transition or in a set offense

Those would be a few. Concern with a jr college player is he must be ready to play and contribute immediately as there really isn't much development time since he has only 2 years with us

Ahhh, to be in the LA area this time of the year. Sunny, 70 degrees and going to scout a future Kent St. hoopster. Envious I am. 04-cheers

BTW, the temperature in NE Ohio today is hovering around 27 degrees, (Faranheit that is) snow flurries and the wind is howling at a brisk 15-25 knots. I can only imagine what the area between the student center and the library are like today at Kent. Normally the coldest spot on the face of the earth.

It's gonna be very interesting to see how Sutton AND Quaintance fit into Christian's set play system.

One early basketball magazine noted that Quaintance "turns his game on and off like a spigot".

Here's a link to the official announcement from KSU:

<a href='http://www.kentstatesports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=16&url_article_id=2793&url_subchannel_id=&change_well_id=2' target='_blank'>http://www.kentstatesports.com/index.php?s...hange_well_id=2</a>

Only Sutton's freshman year is mentioned, so I am assuming he will have three years at Kent.

They discuss his freshman year which was last season, he signed to go to Kent next season (a a junior) after he finishes the current season, his sophomore year.

Thanks Polish Hammer, I don't know what I was thinking- he's no different from the HS recruits who are finishing out their last seasons before matriculating to Kent.
