How much longer will we put up with this?
Every week it's the same damn thing: The team gets out coached and loses. Are the expectations so low with this program that three or four wins lets a head coach keep his job? And maybe, just maybe, we are seeing why Spencer Keith wasn't recurited to play Quarterback at any other D1 school.

I don't know how much longer I can continue to support this mess. It never changes. Just once I want to see this team win and go to a bowl game. I want to see a winner. It's the same crap since I was at Kent over a decade ago; and I know it goes back much longer then that.

If it was still Laing Kennedy, I would say, Who knows? But the new AD did not blow up the marketing budget to go 3-9 or 4-8 again.

Not only was Martin's offense embarassed in the third quarter, but he lost his cool with Keith. This loss stings. The thing is, the offensive line looked as good as it had all year in the first half, then they quit running straight ahead in the third quarter.

I assume Martin will go to Morgan at some point just for a miracle spark unless Morgan looks as bad in practice as he did in games last year.

Here's a scary thought: What if Keith is the best QB we have?

So the starter isn't expected to be the best we have? Really? I think it's obvious he is by far the best QB on the roster when he performs up to his capabilities, he was a preseason All-MAC for a reason.

"How much longer"?

Martin Man (apologies to Neil Young)
Losses pilin',
and interceptions,
penalty flags flyin'
Will Martin be
a-comin'back?
Nielsen screamin'
and posters cracking
How long? How long?
How long? How long?

RE: How much longer will we put up with this?
The sad part of this is if you put a winner at Dix Stadium, the place would be packed! You would have fans tailgaiting, having fun, and getting pumped to see a great team win! I actually believe this team has the talent to win. Look at last night, Toledo makes all the right second half adjustments, and what do we do? Nothing worthwhile. In KSU's current situation, it is a coaching problem! There is no legitimate reason for this group not to win. Coach Martin will survive the season simply because Dr. Lefton is not going to pay two coaches in the same season. But the day after this misery ends, he is out of here on the first bus out of town! For all we know, he probably can't wait to get out of here himself!05-mafia

Nope. He's the first guy to say that he can help with marketing, but the team has to win to sustain fan interest.

Minnesota just fired their head coach promoting the Off coordinator. Will we see something similiar?

If I'm not mistaken, DM is also our offensive coordinator.

Doug is going to get the year. He knows what he has to do to get his contract renewed and my hunch is that he will get a full season's shot at it. Think JN will let this play out unless something surprising happens.

RE: How much longer will we put up with this?
The thing of it is, I don't want a coach that will just get us to a bowl 1 season. So many MAC teams have these 1-done teams. JD Bookhart comes to mind. His team comes out of the ashes, gets a lot of fans at the championship, shows off their championship rings at their b-ball games, then they suck again.
I want a football team that resembles Kent State Basketball. Win the MAC, get in the post season, stay competitive, competes for the championship yearly. (Even if we don't win it). Think about it, when was the last time Kent State did not at least compete for the MAC Championship in basketball? I don't mean play in the championship game. I mean make noise in Cleveland year-in and year-out. (Man, I have chills now.)
If we can have a football team that resembles that, I don't see Kent State being in the MAC for long. however, as long as our football team weighs us down, we will always be a joke. We will always be "that school where those people got shot at."
Now, I know we won't be Ohio State. But if we can put a dent in their fanebase, then I will grow old a very happy man.

Well, you have to get the one before the rest. I was positive after last season's 5-7 record and more so than if they had gone 7-5 with a bunch of seniors. Last year's team got caught by injuries at the end, but it was supposed to lay the groundwork. That is what makes this season disappointing. Frankly, look at the schedule -- there are no sure losses left, but if KSU was good enough to make that type of run they would have beaten Miami and not been outscored 27-0 in the second half last night.

And, I at least thought Morgan would be good last year. Sometimes players take a step back. I think Keith's confidence is shot. His throws are everywhere. I am not saying I necessarily bench Keith, but if I'm Martin and I know my job hinges on whether this team can pick up the pieces and at least finish 6-6, I would be inclined to try most anything.

Now given the way Martin has berated Keith at times this year, maybe Keith needs a new voice. I have seen every game this year, and I can think of at least three times where Martin gave Keith tongue-lashing. That type of tough love does not work for everybody.

RE: How much longer will we put up with this?
I am more upset at the coach than the quarterback. Sometimes I hear people complain about the quarterback when he had no time and when players drop the ball. That said quarterback play could be better.

I guess it goes back to an old saying in my group

"The beatings will continue until morale improves"
