Mills at Nationwide Championship
I wish I had better news, but Jon Mills is off to a very rough start at the Nationwide Tour Championship. He finished up his second round today and is +5 through 2 rounds, currenly 12 strokes behind the leader and tied for 52nd place. There is no cut at the Championship, so he will play this weekend and will have to make up a lot of ground to get a strong finish to earn his PGA tour card for the upcoming year (I stand by that he'll need to finish in the Top 12 or so).

Even if this weekend goes poorly, Jon will finish in the Top 40 of the Nationwide Tour money list, so he will automatically qualify for the final stage of the Q school, a 6 round tournament in December, where the Top 25 also earn their PGA tour card. There are 4 stages to the Q school (going on right now), so getting a pass to the final stage is a big plus.

Better play today, as Mills shot a 1 under 71 and is tied for 41st place. He'll need an unbelievable round tomorrow to get into contention for the automatic spot on the PGA tour as he is currently 8 strokes out of the Top 10.

RE: Mills at Nationwide Championship
Mills finished out of contention (tied for 38th place) and dropped to 33rd on the money list, $28K out of 25th place. It was a generally good year, but Jon missed a few opportunities to improve his standing and ensure a spot in the "25".

By finishing between 26th and 40th on the Nationwide, Jon qualifies for the final stage of the PGA Q School, which takes place in December. Jon will need to finish in the Top 25 there (out of ~150 golfers) to qualify for next year's PGA tour. Otherwise, he is ensured a spot on the Nationwide Tour by his Top 60 finish on the Nationwide Tour money list.
