Breaking News: Dan Rivers of 570 WKBN in Youngstown is reporting Former YSU Head Coach Jon Heacock has been hired as the defensive coordinator at Kent State.

He is not well loved in Youngstown, but as bad as he was as a head coach, he was a damn good defensive coordinator. His brother is the DC at Ohio State.

Here's a story tha was in the PD last year after Heacock stepped down. I don't know jack about YSU football but it sounds like they had some good years under his leadership.

With all due respect, going to the playoffs ONE time in nine years is not going to cut it in Youngstown. I am not going to lie, the boo birds in the final season at Stambaugh were embarrassing. He can coach defenses very well, but he was a terrible head coach and an even worse recruiter.

60-44 was his 9 year record at YSU. May sound good to many programs, but not at YSU. Expectations are very very high here.

Overall, Heacock had a nice run at YSU. Problem was he followed a legend here in Jim Tressel. Should do a good job as DC at KSU. He better!!

I hope so, the previous DC is a tough act to follow! Everything that was right about our team this year was the D!
