BG 15-1 vs. KSU 12-3. Should be a well played game right? Here are the facts.

1. More turnovers in the first half than shots ATTEMPTED.
2. Halftime score of KSU 20- BG 18. A real barnburner.
3. More of the same in the second half with Kent holding a whopping lead of 44-41 with 3 minutes to go.
4. In the next 2:15 BG manages 2 free throws to cut the lead to 44-43.
5. The last 45 seconds fit right into the game.
6. Kent turnover, BG turnover, Kent fouled but non-shooting, BG ties up the inbound pass and they get the ball, BG throws up the ugliest shot ever seen, Humes rebounds and gets fouled with 5 seconds left, Humes misses, 2 BG players collide going after the rebound, finally pass to point guard who almost dribbles the ball away but gathers it in time to throw up a 3/4 court prayer which misses.

Kent wins 44-43 in either the greatest defensive stuggle ever or the worst game seen in 50 years. You have to decide. I think it was about 40% defensive struggle and 60% sloppy but I guess we will take the win. It was nice to hear the 300 or so BG fans shut up.

On the Kent side Harris did a great job stopping the BG star and holding her to 13 points. BG shot 7-20 from 3 pt land but scored almost nothing from 15 feet or less. They shot 28% from the field. Remarkably low for BG. Kent was just the opposite. Two for 15 from 3 but 41% overall. As usual Humes took it over with about 10 minutes left and ended up with 16. A lot of drives to the basket and pulling up and popping a 12-15 foot jumper. Jones added 11. Only concern was for the 2nd game in a row Tamzin B. was a non- factor. Did not even look like the player she was earlier. Hopefully it is just a slump as they need her to be the 4th guard. Great win for Kent but a painful game to watch.

RE: Womens Basketball
Even though it was ugly, glad to upset the perennial MAC leader and take first place in the East.

RE: Womens Basketball
Sounds like a frustrating game to watch. I planned on going to this game but mixed my days up thought the game was tomorrow. Hopefully this will start a good run to the tourny.

RE: Womens Basketball
They have had some "pretty" games with BG end up in 30-point blowouts in recent years. This might be just the first of three meetings but definitely one to celebrate.
