Back to back baby! Nice win. So much for the rebuilding year. Kent is addicted to winning. They had tigerblood in their veins tonight. Let's go to Cleveland and get three more.

As for the game. Obviously lots of things changed the game in Kent State's favor in the second half, but a couple of things stuck out to me.

Greene started getting the better of Marshall. That was good to see because I was concerned he was frustrated by the big 7 footer. Just the opposite. Greene showed some toughness that Marshall just couldn't match.

Porrini was in a tough position in the second half guarding McKnight and the Serbian guy. But as much as Akron tried to take advantage of those matchups, Porrini boxed those sons of guns out, sometimes taking them into the seats. He rebounded well.

The other one was Sherman just abusing McKnight on the offensive end. McKnight looked like a butler while Sherman just blew by him. Great stuff.

Whoever we see in the quarterfinals, if Guyton is hitting shots, things should open up really well.

Nice job fellas! Very proud to be a Flashfanatic tonight!

You mention something I wondered about Zeke. On TV, it looked like he passed on some point blank shots in the first half. He was wide open under the basket and just passed. Not that I minded, but saw this three or four times in the first half alone. Did anyone else who watched the game in person notice this?

Dude, you did not just say tiger blood... But hey, here's to you. 04-cheers

The first half looked a lot like the YSU game I saw over break. I was thinking they were showing the immaturity that I was afraid would come out in the biggest game of the year.

Alas, the second half. I just want to give mad props to Gains for his impact to the game. When he came in, he was in a mini-zone. Not a zone like Michael Jordan hitting 20 three's. However, his impact turned the game around, and ignited Mr. Green. Zeke tried keeping pace with Green, but the rest of Akron seemed to crumble.

Anyone notice that the MACC only provides 2 camera angles. When we get someone to donate $6M in a couple years, I hope we can improve on that. I think it will help our cause to get more tv games.

I'm still thinking our biggest hurdle -as well as every other MAC team- next week will be OU. Its kind of scary that they will have a bye.

As I sit here, I'm reminded that coffee always taste so sweet after winning the MAC Championship! Now off to see what the word is on Akron's board. hehehe..

The worst part about the MAC tourney and the seedings is that the West is so weak, whoever finishes 2nd in the East has a cakewalk to the finals. Getting to play the West division winner in the Semi's is a decided advantage over having to play a division rival OU (this year) or Akron (in previous years).

You are right. Zeke did pass up a few shots from 4' with only one KSU defender on hiim. I was stunned he passed the ball too!. This kid is talented but doesn't seem to have the drive in him to be great. I've heard him speak a few times and he's a really articulate and nice kid. I don't think BB is all that important to him.

And yet the 3 seed has never won the tourney.

Here's hoping for a Ball St. win today which moves them to #4.

RE: Kent State vs. Akron
This isn't about the game as much as it is about the fans at the game. I was sitting directly next to the football players in the north student section and considering how much we are pushed to support and get excited for our football team they were by far the least spirited and enthusiastic fans in the building. I've noticed it other times they come to games or any other event on campus. It bothers me that they get a reserved section in the student section for them to come to the game and then they don't even pay attention for half of the game. This wasn't all of them but probably close to half of them spent the majority of the game talking about other things or sitting down or just looking around. I get that the want athletes to come support other athletes but don't take away seats from students who actually want to be there for the game to give them to people who are there because they were told to be. That on top of the fact that we're supposed to love our football team but the actual players act like they're the only important game in town. I'm not a fan of that.

You can always tell who the football players are. They use the basketball games to catch up on their sleep!! To them, it must be "cool" to be quiet during the games.03-zzz

The football team sleeps during their own games as well. Hummer is the only player I saw last year that every game he was out trying to pump the team up. If Hummer doesnt play this year I think we should get together and start the "rudy chant" till he gets in.

I have less of a problem with the football players as I do with our student section shouting classless chants at the Akron team. There is a fine line between poking fun at the other team and being unsportsmanlike ("Akron Sucks.") That isn't even remotely creative and makes you sounds like a group of ignorant asses. Leave that act up to the Rowdies

I did not know that there was such a thing as a classless chant referring to the zits.

I mean, they are a disgrace, but our basketball team has done a pretty good job of taking the wind out of their sails on their own in the past few years.

RE: Kent State vs. Akron
I don't know. Being concerned with students chant or what their signs say during the game seems to be a waste time. Leave that to the people on zipsnation who as of this morning spent their time complaining about:
a) The Kent Student Section AND
b) The refs hamstrining Marshall and Diggs ejection being unfair

College kids go to games, especially games on ESPN not thinking about representing the University in the best possible way, but making a spectacle to get on tv and maybe into the opposing player's heads. If you have a problem with "Akron sucks" than you should really be disgusted by the "USA" chants. Bottom line, who cares about that stuff.

When it comes to Basketball, which is the only thing that I care about. Akron just CAN"T beat KENT STATE!

Since the 07-08 season the Flashes have a 7-2 record against Akron.

Kent76, everytime Cvetinovic touched the ball the students would chant U-S-A, U-S-A.

RE: Kent State vs. Akron
Of course, a "USA" chant is pretty mild compared to what Patrick Ewing faced 30 years ago:

The animosity continued at Georgetown. In Philadelphia, Villanova fans raised a sheet that read "Ewing is an ape." Another fan wore a T-shirt that said "Ewing kant read dis." Someone threw a banana peel on the court.

In Providence, Hoyas coach John Thompson pulled his team off the floor until a sign that said "Ewing can't read" was removed.
