I said I would post if they showed improvement so I would be unfair if I did not post after the Thursday game. They are 2-3 in the MAC and should have beat Akron, but unfortunately our weakness when we are pressed showed up in that one.

Thursday night against Buffalo they played one of the better games any womens team played offensively. Thirty one baskets and 26 assists. You can't do too much better than that. The passing was excellent and a lot of those passes turned into easy lay-ups. They also were 11-22 from the 3 pt. arc. Now Buffalo is not a very good team, however Kent has not embarressed themselves in any MAC game including at BG and at Miami.

I am still not very optimistic about the program as once again no recruits were signed in November (or at least not announced), but the coaching staff still can improve teams throughout the season.

Burden,

Like that you are following the womens team, but there are no seniors and the team is inexperienced, so it might take a little longer for commitments to roll in as the coaching staff can be a little more patient with no seniors. They won again this afternoon vs CMU, so the improvement continues. Should be interesting to see where they finish the season. BG & Miami of OH will be tough to catch/beat, but after the way the season started, 3rd or 4th place in MAC tourney wouldnt be bad at all.

Another win today against CMU. They almost blew a 12 pt. lead in the last 5 minutes like they did at Akron but a least this time they only turned the ball over once and only missed free throws (unusual for this team) made it tight. But a win is a win and they were playing a MUCH better team than Buffalo. They now play relatively weak WMU and NIU on the road. It would be nice to see them win a road game.

They won a road game at WMU 67-62. Now WMU is 5-13 so it wasn't the biggest challenge they will have but who would have thought this team would win any road game and actually be 4-3 in the MAC. The 3 guards are playing 37-39 minutes a game so I expect they will tire as the season keeps going but their improvement has to be pointed out. I especially enjoy watching Tamzin Barroilet (I"m sorry for butchering the name but I have enough trouble with English let alone French) re-gain her 3pt shot and start making all the layups she works hard to get. She subbed at 4 positions last year and all though she starts this year she still plays some 1 and 4 every game. With our constant lack of players and depth her abilities have been invaluable the last two years.
