Men fell as far back as 5th place after the turn, but have come storming back to get into a 3-way tie for the lead with Indiana and Iowa with only 2-3 holes remaining.

Ben hanging tough, just made a couple of clutch birdies to lead by 1. Matt Every has kept the pressure on with a birdie run of his own. Looks like a 2-man race.

Ben is back on TV now that we are done with the old men in Savannah...

Just birdied 7 to take back the lead.

Our last golfer of the day tripled the final hole and we lost by 3 strokes. Would have been in a playoff otherwise. Yikes.

Tough end for him. We end up 3rd.

Ben Curtis is trying like hell to give this tourney away. He is having a brutal back 9. Still tied for the lead with 4 holes to play. Crazy to think he has $11m in career earnings and only has 3 wins in his career. Really needs this win.

Ben just can't hit a shot or make a putt right now. 1 shot lead on 16 and hanging on for dear life. 2 guys within a stroke of him and both have make-able birdie putts on 16.

BAM! Now that is a clutch putt. Still in the lead with 1 to go!

That putt really took the air out of Huh and Avery. And loosened Ben up going to the last.

That was a ridiculous up and down on 17. When he hit 2nd shot, I thought to myself after leading all week, 1 shot was going to cost him the tourney. On to 18.

Wow! Just awesome....so very happy for Ben. He earned it!

Congrats Ben! Clutch play on 18 and way to finish with style!

I also thought he gave the tourney away with the second shot on 17, but Fehrety said he had a bad lie. Actually, it turned out he won the tourney with the fourth shot, a 22 foot par putt.

Congrats to Ben. way to hang in there and get the job done.

Whew! Happy for him.

Six long years and that grueling back nine.....now that's perseverance! Really proud of Ben and the huge clutch up and down on 17 to grab the Valero title, but more proud of him for his emotional display afterward, the hard work, and not taking the easy way out and throwing in the proverbial towel over the last few years. He's been great to and for KSU and I not only congratulate him but want to thank him as well.

Ben jumps to #27 in the FedEx Cup standings, and I believe his $1.1 mil. win will put him in the top 25 on the money list.
And a 2 year exemption, which is really priceless. I am very happy for Ben and his family.

I was really touched by his emotional display at the end. One of the really genuine nice guys in sports.

Ben is off to a great start on his newly achieved status on the Tour. He is 4-under through 16 down in New Orleans. Looks like the lead will probably be -7 after 1 round.

As fast as I could get this posted, Ben dropped another birdie!

Now -5 through 17.

Also just noticed quite a few players haven't teed off yet. 2nd wave of players just getting started.

Finished with a very solid 5-under 67, just like he opened with last week.

Heading out to the Zurich Classic for moving day. Planning to follow Ben for most of the day and hoping he can put up a good number and move into good position for tomorrow!
