It sounds like the guys really stood in thier against the big boys from Iowa...Hopefully the Kent boys will do well this year and I have to get out the calender and see them live this year...How did the O-line look? was it blitz packages that got to them or was there just no push? Even though Rutgers is improved I really see them giving them a game especially with Cribbs in their and Riutgers riding high...Hopefully Pitt does wel this weekend I think Walt is losing his team :( we need to lure Urban Meyer to Pittsburgh

Ike;
I thought the offrensive line played pretty well, particularly on pass blocking downs. While some accounts said the Smith was under pressure all afternoon I think they only sacked him twice. One sack was on Sitko. They were pass blocking probably 70% of the time and Smith had to move around, but he usually had time to get a decent look downfield. Iowa's D pretty much played them straight up without a lot of blitzing. I don't think the offensive line had any holding calls at all and they didn't seem to be getting out musculed. Of course, it didn't hurt to have a mobile QB in there. Probably the single worst offensive line play was in the 4th qtr when Mirafine missed their end Roth and he hit Smith as he was throwing to cause an interception that was run back for 6. Mirafine is a redshirt freshman and it was his first start so a missed assignment is understandable.
The lack of a running game had more to do with how fast the Iowa linemen and linebackers were. Up the middle any holes seemed to close really fast and their ends sealed everything to the outside. I really don't think we will see a run D that fast and strong again this season.
This week we get Andrews back so it should be really interesting to see if we can start blasting open some running holes. The week after Newton returns at tight end. All in all, this line is going to get better.
Even though we didn't seem to get much in the way of respect from the press for the effort, I really think this team learned a lot from this game. Iowa is a first rate team and it will be interesting to see how they do in the B-11 this year.
If the old adage is true that a team inproves the most between their first and second game then we have something to look forward to this week.

The running game better come around; Alston needs a big game against Liberty to help out Cribbs and get things balanced
out. If Cribbs has to do it all to win this game against Liberty.....................well things could look ugly against Rutgers whose
defense looked great against Michigan St. Rutgers looked a little shaky on offence but that was against a decent big ten team.
Hopefully having Jason A. back and Cribbs will get this offence cooking in the weeks to come.
