Check out this column ... the ignorance and bad attitude continues with our friends at the DKS. Even though its labeled as a "humor" column it does not come across that way at all. With unnecessary articles like this it is damn near impossible to draw in new student fans .... 03-banghead 03-banghead

We all have at one time or another, more than once in my case, poked fun at our football team and our university, but this guy not only has no style, he's not funny or even satirical. It's just a shrill, immature rant.
Certainly, the football team is open to criticism, but these are cheap, ill-informed shots.
Fortunately, how mny people pay attention the DKS?

Yep, it's pretty bad. Three thoughts....

Hopefully, the consequences of messing up are sinking in for the rest of the team. It's not only about the difficulty of "getting out" of trouble, it's that it will follow you for a long, long time. For Elam, maybe the rest of his life. So, while this writing is unfortunate for Cribbs and Elam, it's all part of the medicine. People aren't just going to "forget" because that's the most convienent.

The only way Flashes are going to turn doubters into believers is by winning. Period.

Finally, I think the Stater has been pretty good so far this year. On balance, I am glad they are not a rah-rah rag.

OK I'm a little bummed out at the quality of the writing of the paper. This kid isn't funny. When I wrote for the paper, we had some damn fine columnists. Go back through the archives and look for stuff that Mike Polk or James Renner wrote. THat was funny. WE had the editorial cartoonist that now works for the LA Times. Good humor writers. Not this hack.

I'll see you on the 11th.

Not funny at all. I would have thought that his editior would have taken one look at this column and sent it back for a rewrite. Mr. Labbe don't give up your day job as a student for a comedy journalism career. You have a long way to go.

What a stupid piece of crap! Criticism is expected for a program that hasn't done much. Criticism of the Cribbs' and Elam situations is warranted, but this is just garbage and never should have been printed.

I am a long time lurker on this board. I am a senior here at Kent, and love my Kent sports. And that column made me really pissed off!!! I emailed him and informed him that he is not very funny, and will never write about sports again...Anyways just wanted to say HELLO all, and I think we looked decent against Iowa. Would have put one in the endzone with Cribbs in. Oh well, atleast he is healthy for next week. Should be a good first home game if the defense plays with the same intensity :)

First time posting. Started reading off and on last winter and spring.
Probably will agree with me most of the time but not this time.
This column is a humor column. It was labeled that way in the editorial section. Most of us are all positive about the Flashes prospects for this season, but if you had no connection to the University, what wouldn't you agree with ih this column? I read some comments on here just in the last month questioning the addition of Elam. Cribbs and Elam have admitted they know they will have to live with whispers and comments. We have to shake it off as well.

Before you criticize the Stater. Click on the front page and see the huge story on Cribbs and Elam getting a second chance. It is also not the Stater's job to get fans.

Nice to have all these new posters. Welcome! If you live in NE Ohio, hope you can get to games.

Thanks for the call out on the Stater article on Cribbs and Elam. Pretty balanced.
