Kent State vs. Miami
The Golden Flashes find themselves in a very nice position on Senior/Hall of Fame Night at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game the Flashes will be playing for the MAC Regular Season crown next Friday against Akron. Here is a look at what I think are some of the keys to victory for the good guys:

Greene vs. Mavunga - Two of the best bigs in the conference and both are only sophomores. Although their styles are not identical, both are catalysts for their teams. Mavunga can score around the basket, but seems to be Miami's version of a "stretch four" as he has shot 55 three pointers this season. He averages 6.5 rebounds per game so Greene and company are going to have to keep an eye on him for sure. If Kent State can get Mavunga in foul trouble Miami could have some real problems. A look at their roster shows that their bench lacks size "big" time. This would be a nice night to get Greene and Singletary plenty of touches around the hoop and force Mavunga to D up on a consistent basis.

Set the tempo - This is Miami's game. When The Redhawks can control the tempo of a game, they are tough to beat, whether their record is 12-16 or 20-8. For one half down in Oxford, the Flashes were playing at whatever pace they wanted. Then in the second half, Miami took over the honors and it doomed Kent State. I think if Kent can finish fast break opportunities WHILE ALSO spending some time working the ball in to Singletary and Greene, Miami could be in for a long night.

Rock the House - There was a time not long ago when if a Kent team found themselves down 5 or 6 in the second half, the crowd at the MAC Center would stand up and show a ton of love. In my opinion, that has sort of gone away (maybe its because of the hype clown that comes out and tries to manufacture cheering). But whatever the case, its the last home game of the year so lets Fight on For KSU all night!

GO KENT!

Tyree lite up Miami the first time they played then the offense kind of went away from him and it went down hill from there. Here's to hoping he finds that hot hand again and they feed him all game.

The house will be a rockin' tonight! Senior night, Gates # retired. I look for KSU to get back to a high level of play and beat Miami by 10-12.

The last I checked, Kent State was giving 9 points.

Does anyone know what time the ticket window opens at the MACC? What time the door open?

Great game tonight. Monster game from Greene. It was really nice to see Frank Henry-Ala turn in one of his better statistical games of the year. Simpson had all the tools on display as well. That pin-block he had had to have been about half way up the backboard. It was fun to watch Mavunga and Greene go at one another all night. We will have 2 more years to enjoy that match up. The one thing that really dissapointed me about the night was some of the calls on Singltary. I really wanted to see him not have to worry about his fouls at any point tonight. Some of the calls on him were more than questionable.

Greene has to get the nod now. Honestly though, you know to play high level bb you must stay on the floor. That is why I just love greene and he is avg twenty over the last four games.

i agree...the macc center crowd was very disappointing as far as noise level goes..the ksu marketing dept. will have to look at how to improve that...start by getting rid of hype guy!

Greene is also shooting 74% the last 3 games and averaging a double double.

I think that had more to do with the type of game that was being played -- methodical Miami style with long stretches of poor shooting. At one point in the second half, only 7 points were scored during a 7-minute stretch. That's enough to disinterest any crowd.

I Agree. In the last few years the home MU game has been difficult to watch. In that stretch last night, MU's offense looked lost. They were still able to lure us into the Miami style of play. Had we hit a couple more wide open 3's we could have run them out of the building.

I believe the Akron game will be higher scoring, say 80-69 Kent.

If we would just make foul shots, Chris.
