How is this guy still your coach? i think there is a reason he is making only 168K. You guys have a great defense but your offense is pathetic and Spencer Keith is horrible. When is Martins contract up?

let me ask this. you guys have a great basketball program. Is your athletic director commited to kent state football? i mean EMU is paying Ron English 300K why doesnt Kent State get a quality coach and pay him! your assistant coaches payroll is 546K according to http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/f...tabase.htm Im not a kent state fan im a WMU fan/student but i root for all mac schools and it just frustrates me what kent is doing with there program.

If you are this interested in Martin, we have about six threads on this board just on the first page. Yes, it is time for him to go. He built on what Pees had started which was building a better talent base, but unfortunately the glass ceiling has been about five wins. The previous AD was a coaches' AD. It was widely assumed the new AD was giving Martin this year to get to a bowl.

As for the salary, Kent State does not spend a lot of money on football, but that is mostly attributable to the fact Kent State has not changed coaches since 2004, and that was to promote from within. That was before the non-BCS 1-A teams raised its coaching salaries.

As for the offense, Martin is an easy target, but I am not sure how bad the offense was. Kent State had more than 400 yards. If they execute like a decent high school team in the red zone and get some TDs, today's game would have been a shootout. Also, Keith did have a bit of a sophomore slump, but he also is playing with an injured thumb.

Our AD is in his first year and is VERY committed to football. Doug Martin has one year left and likely will not see next season. He is probably going to be relieved of his duties very soon.

Also how does Georgia St in their inaugural year go 6-5 yes its FCS but still. Coach has 1 year and leads them to a winning record 7 years and only 4 maybe 5 wins...

I am going to put this as simply as possible. There is no way on God's green earth that Doug Martin is coming back as coach. I don't care how much money he makes, or how underpaid he is, you can ABSOLUTELY BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR that Mr. Neilsen is not going to put his credibility as KSU A.D. on Mr. Martin's shoulders. It is crystal clear that this program needs a new direction, with a fresh face, WHO IS NOT AFRAID TO RUN THE FOOTBALL! I understand that we may take a step backward at first, but it's not like were coming off of a string of MAC championships! Sometimes change in life is good, in our case, it is needed. I'll be at the OU game, and I will be screaming my brains out for a KSU win to send Coach Martin out victoriously! GO FLASHES!!
