If I thought we had an AD with the same goals, I, too, would be more supportive. After 30 years of blind support, I have experienced many bummer decisions with a few landmark great decisions. One thing that this long period of time of involvement does, is to give one the feeling that better results are or are not just around the corner. I hope that I am wrong, but my observation of the current situation is that the administration does not know the proper questions to ask, therefore a good answer is left for the unlikely event of improbable luck. In other words, how do you arrive at a solution, when the details of the problem are not recognized.
