I think you answered that question. Past CMU and Ball St., the West is weak. There is much more balance in the East as teams beat each other up more. CMU could well put up a 14-2 or 13-3 which will be hard for any East team to match even if the best East team is measurable better than CMU.

I think CMU might be in the mix in the East, but I doubt they would win it because of the lack of depth. BSU might be 4th or 5th in the East, but look now to be maybe the 2nd best team in the West on paper. Of course, it's really hard to play basketball on paper.

Yeah, I'm going back to the best 4 teams in the MAC are probably Akron, Ohio, Kent and CMU (who probably are Second 50 teams). Then I see Miami, BG, Buffalo, BSU, WMU and Eastern as second 100 teams. And I expect NIU and Toledo to be horrible. But trying to predict which of the 4 emerges as leader, forget it.

I see it like Toledo in 2007. They beat up on a terrible West, won enough against the East, and eas able to squeak by Akron. Nobody thought they were the best team and they got taken out in the semifinals.
